Chanting slogans and carrying placards, the protesters blocked major roads, calling for accountability and an end to police brutality.

They accused law enforcement officers of excessive force and indiscriminate violence, lamenting that similar cases had occurred in the past without any significant action taken against the perpetrators.

In response to the growing unrest, security forces were deployed in Ekpoma to contain the situation, but the demonstrators insisted they would not back down until justice was served.

The protests disrupted business activities in the town, as shops and markets were forced to shut down due to fear of escalation.

Community leaders and civil society organisations have condemned the incident, urging the government and police authorities to launch a thorough investigation.

They stressed the need for accountability to prevent further erosion of public trust in law enforcement agencies.

The Edo State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the matter, but sources himted that top officials were assessing the situation to prevent further escalation.
