Terrorists raid 6 villages in reprisal attack, kill 11 people

A total of six villages were burnt down as a form of retaliation by the dreaded Lakurawa bandits in Kebbi State.

The attack happened in the Arewa Local Government Area on Sunday, March 9.

According to reports, the group launched the attack following the killing of its leader, Maigemu.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kebbi state police command, Nafiu Abubakar said the militants stormed the communities, including Birnin Dede, burning it down as well as other neighbouring communities.

The last village was spared due to presence of the military.

“The attack happened on Sunday. They targeted six villages, killing 11 people and leaving two others in critical condition. We are on their trail, and God willing, we will apprehend them soon,” Abubakar said

He added that while 11 deaths were confirmed, two people were critically injured.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Arewa Local Government Council, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, disclosed that the victims had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
