Two children feared killed as explosion rocks old NDA site

Two children, a 13-year-old boy identified as Imam and a six-year-old girl Nasrin, have been reportedly killed in an explosion at Abakpa area of Kaduna State.

Three residents also reportedly sustained injuries in the explosion which occurred on Tuesday, adjacent the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

The cause of the explosion has not been established, but security agencies are at the scene of the incident to investigate the cause.

A resident of the area, who did not want to be mentioned, said that he was taking his bath when he heard the explosion and ran out.

“The explosion occurred very close to my house. So when I heard it, I ran out to see what has happened. I saw one of the affected victims, Imam, and tried to take him to the hospital but he died before we got to the hospital.”

Details are still sketchy as at the time of this report, but the incident has caused fears in the area as residents are still in shock.
