Gunmen in Adamawa abduct journalist Usman Sahabi

In a distressing incident, journalist Usman Sahabi was abducted by a group of armed gunmen in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

Sahabi, who is a staff member of the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation and also serves as the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, was kidnapped from his Wuro Chekke home at approximately 1 am on Friday.

According to a family source, around five gunmen forcefully entered Sahabi’s room and abducted him at gunpoint. As of now, no ransom has been demanded by the kidnappers.

The Adamawa State Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and assured that all operational assets have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the journalist.

The police are determined to bring him back unharmed and urged the family and the public to remain calm as they work diligently on his safe return.

This abduction highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect journalists and preserve press freedom.
