Thugs set ADC Secretariat ablaze

Suspected hoodlums on Monday set ablaze the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Ekiti State, just hours before the scheduled inauguration of the party’s new State Executive Council.

The attack, which occurred at the party’s office along Basiri Road, resulted in the destruction of several properties, including a 1,000-capacity canopy with chairs, another 150-capacity canopy, and parts of the secretariat building.

Party members have strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the party’s activities in the state. They called on security agencies to launch a swift investigation and ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

Despite the destruction, ADC supporters and loyalists have continued to assemble at the secretariat, awaiting the arrival of national officers expected to preside over the inauguration ceremony.

Some party officials appealed for calm, warning political thugs and rival groups against acts of violence that could heighten political tension in Ekiti State.
