NAHCON board members petition Tinubu, seek removal of commission chairman
Some board members of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for the removal of the commission’s chairman over alleged misconduct and administrative concerns.
In the petition, the aggrieved board members accused the chairman of actions they described as inconsistent with the principles of transparency, due process, and collective decision-making expected of the commission’s leadership. They alleged that key decisions were taken unilaterally, sidelining the board and undermining effective governance.

The petitioners also raised concerns over the management of the commission’s affairs, claiming that the chairman’s leadership style had created internal tension and negatively affected NAHCON’s operations, particularly in preparations for Hajj activities.
They urged President Tinubu to intervene promptly to prevent further deterioration of the commission’s functions, stressing that NAHCON plays a critical role in coordinating Nigeria’s annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

As of the time of filing this report, the NAHCON chairman has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Presidency is also yet to issue an official statement on the petition.
