Ten soldiers feared dead, two others abducted in Borno
No less than ten soldiers were reportedly killed, with two others abducted in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The ten military personnel were killed while traveling in a convoy to Maiduguri when they were ambushed by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist along Maiduguri/Monguno road in Borno State.
The ambush also led to the death of two civilians JTF.
Confirming the incident on Friday in Maiduguri, a military source told The Guardian that two soldiers were also abducted by the terrorists and fled towards the Lake Chad region.

He said, “Our troops were traveling along the road when their convoy came under fierce attacks from both sides”. Stating that the soldiers were returning from one of the Super Camps in northern Borno state.
On how the troops were killed, he said: “The ISWAP terrorists must have planted mines over the night, with information that the troops will use the road by morning. “An officer believed to be their unit commander, was also killed in the attack”.
He added that some of the soldiers also sustained injuries and have been evacuated to a military facility in Maiduguri for treatment.
According to him, the terrorists after abducting the soldiers snatched some weapons and other fighting equipment from the convoy.
