Eid-el-Fitr: Buni, deputy urge Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s virtues, pledge people-oriented projects

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, have congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr celebration marking the end of the month of Ramadan fast.

In a statement by Buni’s Director General-Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni said, “It is with gratitude to Almighty Allah that we had a peaceful Ramadan fast across the state and pray to Almighty Allah to accept our acts of worship and prayers”.

The governor charged the people of the state to take the lessons of love, compassion and sacrifice of the last 29 days beyond the holy month of Ramadan.

“We should continue to be our brother’s keepers, spread love and make sacrifices to accommodate one another, and to give the less privileged a sense of belonging as exhibited in the month of Ramadan” he said.

Governor Buni assured the commitment of his administration to continue executing people oriented policies, programmes and projects to improve the lives of the people.

“This administration will continue to execute government business transparently and judiciously to uphold the excellent records we have achieved in due process, State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability, and Audit Efficacy” he said.

The Governor charged the people to always participate, support and take ownership of government programmes for sustainability and to have value for resources injected into the projects.

He also assured the execution of health, education, infrastructural and other social development programmes to make life better for the people of the state.

Governor Buni appealed to the people to support and collaborate with security agencies in the state for the sustainability of peace.

“You should always volunteer credible and timely information on suspicious persons, movements and objects in your areas for the security agencies to act proactively.

“We are all stakeholders with a responsibility to ensuring peace and security in the state” .

“l urge you to continue praying for the peace and prosperity of our dear state and country, I wish us all a very memorable Sallah celebration” Gov. Buni prayed.

Similarly, on his party, Yobe State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, while joining hundreds of Muslim faithful at the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre in Damaturu to observe Eid-el-Fitr prayers.

The Eid prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Ustaz Hudu Mohammed Yusuf at exactly 8:30 a.m.

In his sermon after the two Eid Raka’ats, Ustaz Hudu emphasised that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged Muslims to exchange visits with family, friends, neighbours, and relatives on Sallah day.

The Imam further highlighted the beauty of brotherhood in Islam and urged the congregation to continue emulating the exemplary life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while praying for peace and unity across the country.

He also advised parents and guardians to monitor their children’s movements during the festive period to prevent conflicts and other social vices.

In an interview with Neptune Prime shortly after the Eid prayers, Yobe State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, commended the people of the state for their unwavering support to Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration through prayers and active participation in governance.

He urged them to remain steadfast in promoting peace and harmony in the state. Additionally, he encouraged residents to engage in businesses to mitigate the current economic challenges in Nigeria.

Among the dignitaries who attended the Eid prayers were the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, APC State Chairman, Tijjani Zannah Zakari; member of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, the Head of Civil Service, Commissioners, Special Advisers and Heads of security agencies.

Other notable attendees include the Emir of Gujba, Mai Muktar Ibn Ali Gangaran, former Deputy Governor, Goni Modu Zanna Burah, former National Assembly member, Hon. Ibrahim Umar, Chief Executives of boards and parastatals respectively.
