NGO supports healthcare delivery in Gombe with donation of hospital to rural community

The ‘Jennifer Etuh Foundation,’ a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), commissioned a new hospital on Monday for the people of Tula village in the Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Thomas Etuh, the Chairman of the foundation, stated that the hospital was constructed to provide accessible healthcare services to the village.

The foundation, established in 2020 in memory of Mr. Etuh’s late wife, Mrs. Jennifer Etuh, aims to offer available, accessible, and affordable world-class healthcare services to women and children.

To fulfill his late wife’s vision, Mr. Etuh decided to build and donate medical centres and hospitals in hard-to-reach areas across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

In addition to the hospital in Tula village, similar medical centres have been constructed by the foundation in Odu village in Kogi State, Kagoro in Kaduna State, and Ifewara village in Osun State.

Moreover, the foundation has established skills acquisition centres in three geopolitical zones and conducted free medical outreaches.

Mr. Etuh expressed, “Before the passing of my darling wife, the late Jennifer Etuh, she provided explicit and precise instructions for this vision, which has gradually become a reality over the past two years. Today, we gather here to commemorate her legacy.”

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya commended the foundation for its gesture, stating that it would complement the government’s efforts to revamp healthcare services delivery in the state.

The governor highlighted his administration’s initiatives, including the provision of 114 primary healthcare centres in 114 wards across the state and the upgrade of the state specialist hospital.

Governor Yahaya urged other philanthropists to follow the foundation’s example and support the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the state’s people and residents.
