Police raid kidnappers’ den in Gombe, rescue 45 year-old-man

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers who abducted a 45-year-old man identified as Alhaji Isah Maiduna of Dergo Kwambani village of Akko local government area of the state.

Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, disclosed this in a press statement issued to newsmen on the update of crimes and criminalities in the state.

According to him, “On the 23rd of June, 2022 at about 4 am detectives of the State Criminals Investigation Department in collaboration with police operatives from Kashere outpost and some hunters in the area trailed and raided the hideout of the suspected kidnappers following a complaint they received on the abduction of Maiduna.

“The detectives together with hunters of Kashere division trailed them along the routes to their hideout and engaged them in a gun duel and succeeded in neutralising one and arresting four suspects.

“Due to the superior firepower of the security agents, the kidnappers took to their heels and abandoned the victim who was rescued by the team.

“Some of the exhibits recovered include two Bajaj motorcycles, bow and arrows, and three cutlasses”. The commissioner stated.

He explained that the victim rescued by the team was taken to a hospital while one of the suspects Mohammad Dotti who was injured during the duel was confirmed dead by a medical doctor at specialist hospital Gombe.

Babaita gave the names of the suspects as; Abdullahi Usman of Lambo village, aged 28; Husseini Alhaji Saleh of Lawanti village, aged 30; Mohammadu Jibrin of Lambo village, aged 34; Mohammed Adamu of Shultu village, aged 25; and Mohammadu Dotti, aged 45 also of Shultu village all in Akko local government area of Gombe State.

The CP assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of an ongoing investigation.
