Tinubu begins diplomatic reorganisation with appointment of ambassadors to US, UK, France
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has commenced a major diplomatic reorganisation with the appointment of new Nigerian ambassadors to the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
The appointments represent the first significant set of foreign postings approved by the Tinubu administration and are aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s engagement with key global partners.
Presidency sources said the newly appointed envoys will be tasked with advancing Nigeria’s strategic interests in areas such as economic diplomacy, security cooperation, trade, investment promotion and diaspora relations.
The three countries, the US, UK and France, are regarded as central to Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities, given their roles in global governance, international security, development assistance and bilateral trade.

The ambassadors are expected to work closely with host governments to deepen diplomatic ties while promoting Nigeria’s image and defending the interests of Nigerians living abroad.
In line with constitutional provisions, the nominees will be submitted to the Senate for confirmation before proceeding to their respective duty posts.
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that further ambassadorial appointments to other countries are being finalised as part of a wider restructuring of Nigeria’s diplomatic missions worldwide.
Observers say the move underscores President Tinubu’s intention to deploy diplomacy as a key instrument in driving economic growth and restoring Nigeria’s influence on the international stage.
