Troops repel ISWAP attack on Military Base in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian military have successfully repelled an attack by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on a military base in Borno State.

Security sources said the terrorists attempted to overrun the base in the early hours of the day but were met with stiff resistance from the troops. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the attackers to retreat after suffering casualties.

The military reportedly recorded no major losses, while several weapons and items were recovered during a subsequent sweep of the area. Reinforcements were also deployed to strengthen security around the base and prevent further attacks.

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups in the North-East, assuring residents of continued efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
