FG invites qualified Nigerians to apply for UN resident, humanitarian coordinator talent pool
The Federal Government has called on suitably qualified professionals to apply for leadership opportunities within the United Nations Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) Talent Pipeline.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to News Point Nigeria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the initiative is aimed at attracting “high-calibre professionals” for top leadership roles in the UN’s coordination and humanitarian system.
According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the RC/HC Talent Pipeline is designed to identify, prepare, and strengthen a diverse pool of candidates for future appointments as UN Resident Coordinators and Humanitarian Coordinators.

“The programme seeks to broaden and diversify the pool of eligible candidates, with due consideration given to gender balance and equitable geographical representation,” the statement noted.
The Ministry explained that successful applicants will benefit from structured capacity-building opportunities to strengthen their leadership, coordination, and humanitarian skills. However, it clarified that admission into the Talent Pipeline does not automatically translate into appointment, as candidates will still be required to apply separately to the Resident Coordinator Assessment Centre.
Applications for the current cycle will close on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (EST).

While UN staff members are required to obtain formal nominations from their respective governments, the Ministry said non-UN professionals are eligible to apply directly without prior nomination.
The government urged members of the public with relevant experience and a strong commitment to multilateral cooperation, humanitarian action, and sustainable development to take advantage of the opportunity.
“We encourage all eligible professionals with proven leadership capacity and dedication to global development and humanitarian service to submit their applications within the stipulated time frame,” the statement added.
