Cult Violence: Two university students killed in Osun, four others hospitalised
Two undergraduate students have been killed while four others sustained serious injuries following a suspected cult-related attack on an off-campus apartment in Ede, Osun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night when a group of armed assailants stormed the residence where the students were staying.
According to sources familiar with the development, the attackers allegedly forced their way into the apartment and launched a violent assault on the occupants, leaving several victims with severe injuries.
A security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, linked the attack to an ongoing rivalry between cult groups operating in the area.

“The students were inside their apartment when the attackers arrived on what appeared to be a revenge mission. They broke into the house and attacked the occupants with dangerous weapons. Several of the victims suffered serious injuries, while two later died,” the source said.
The remaining injured students were rushed to a hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
An anti-cultism advocacy group, Naija Confra, also confirmed the incident, claiming that suspected members of the Aye confraternity targeted a Buccaneer member identified as Dara before carrying out the attack.
According to the group, the attackers traced Dara, said to be a senior member of the Buccaneer confraternity, to the apartment where several other members were gathered.
The platform alleged that two persons, including Dara and another member identified as “SJ,” lost their lives during the assault, while other occupants, including a top-ranking member known as “Big Eye,” were left critically injured and are receiving medical care.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that a clash involving suspected cult groups occurred on Tuesday.
He, however, stated that police records currently indicate one fatality.
“Suspected cultists clashed on Tuesday, and one person was killed. Investigation is ongoing,” Ojelabi said.

Security agencies have commenced investigations into the incident as efforts continue to identify those responsible and prevent further violence in the area.
