COVID-19: Yobe intensifies total border lockdown

Yobe State Government, under the Committee for the Prevention of Covid-19 has announced the total lockdown of all borders of the State, as part of proactive measures against coronavirus pandemic spread,
Commissioner for Health and Deputy Chairman of the Covid-19 Prevention Committee, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana said this while briefing Journalists in Damaturu on Tuesday.
He explained that only vehicles carrying essential commodities such as food and drugs would be allowed entry into the state.
According to him “the Committee has reviewed it’s strategies and practices of operation, there will be a complete lock down of the State except for food, medical and other essential commodities”.
Gana revealed that two sub committees were formed in order to ensure that the resolutions are successfully met.
Committee on Security comprising of the Commissioner of Police, Military, Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Commission, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Director of the Department of State Services while Focal Person of the North East Development Commission to serve as the secretary of the committee.
The Sub Committee on supervision for the distribution of the donation received was to be Chaired by the Yobe State Commissioner of Transport.On the spread of rumor on Covid19, Dr. Gana appealed to the people of the State to shun rumor mongering and unnecessary post of unverified information on social media.
