Yobe state Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, has assured citizens that education remains and will continue to be a top priority of his government.
He also said his government is prioritizing primary and secondary education to ensure that no child of Yobe state miss out on education.
The governor stated this at the Government House Damaturu while receiving the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) under the leadership of Alhaji Kashim Imam who was on a courtesy call.
While appreciating the interventions of TETFUND to the six tertiary institutions in the state, Governor Buni said; “We appreciate what TETFUND has been doing in Yobe state, but like Oliver Twist we are asking for more. Institutions like the state polytechnic Geidam was almost destroyed by insurgents. But we are doing our best and currently we are rebuilding the institution.”
On his part the chairman TETFUND Board of Trustees Alhaji Kashim Imam, while making his speech confirmed that TEFUND will invest N8 billion in the six tertiary institutions of Yobe state. This is an increase in the intervention of TETFUND in Yobe State institutions.
Alhaji Kashim Imam also commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for providing “exceptional leadership in a difficult situation.
In a related development, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and Chairman Caretaker Committee of the APC also on Thursday revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
Buni who revalidated his membership at his polling unit electoral ward in Buni Gari town of Gujba Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Governor said that the exercise will further strengthen and reposition the party for future victory.
He further explained that the registration process is being conducted successfully in line with the constitution of the party (APC).
He assured that no APC Member will be left out in the exercise “no APC Member will be left unregistered”.
