Massive resignation of political office holders looms in Taraba

This week will witness a massive resignation of political office holders in Taraba State as Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku directed political appointees serving his government who want to contest elective positions in the 2023 forthcoming general elections to resign on or before Friday, 8th April, 2022.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Taraba State Iliya Bekyu Akweh and made available to newsmen in Jalingo the state capital.

The directive, according to the statement also affect political office holders serving at the local governments which include supervisory councillors, special advisers and secretaries to the local councils.

Governor Darius Ishaku however, appreciates the contributions of the outgoing political office holders towards the progress and development of his administration in the state and wish them success in their future endeavors.

Neptune Prime gathered that in the last few days a lots of Darius’s appointees have purchased intention and nomination forms to contest elective positions. They are trooping to state secretariat of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along Barde Way, Jalingo on daily basis to purchase the forms.

Meanwhile, a strong ally to the governor and PDP stalwart in Taraba State Alhaji Isma’ila Yusha’u Maihanci has became the first to resign from DDI’s government.

Isma’ila Maihanci who until his resignation was a Special Adviser to the Governor posted on his verified Facebook account that he resigned in order to contest in the fourth coming election. Even though he didn’t specifically mentioned what elective post he will vie for, he contested for the House of Representatives to represent Jalingo – Yorro – Zing Federal Constituency in the 2019 elections but lost during primaries.
