Relatives pay ₦10m ransom to secure release of abducted Sokoto bride, bridesmaids

Relatives of a bride and her bridesmaids abducted in Sokoto State have paid a ₦10 million ransom to secure their release, ending days of anxiety and fear.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped while travelling to a wedding ceremony when armed men ambushed their vehicle and whisked them away to an undisclosed location. The incident sparked outrage and concern across the state, particularly as the abducted victims were on their way to celebrate a joyous occasion.

Sources disclosed that negotiations with the abductors lasted several days before an agreement was reached. The captives were eventually released after the ransom was paid, and they have since reunited with their families.

Residents described the incident as traumatic, noting that what was meant to be a moment of celebration turned into a nightmare. Community leaders have condemned the abduction and renewed calls for stronger security measures to curb kidnapping in the region.
