Tinubu signs amended electoral Act into Law
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially signed the amended 2026 Electoral Act into law, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s electoral reform process.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, underscoring the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The development follows the harmonisation of the bill by both chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday, despite strong objections from some minority lawmakers during deliberations.
With the presidential assent, the amended law is expected to guide future electoral processes across the country.
