Police arrest 55-year-old man for impregnating minor
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 55-year-old man, Ademola Joshua, over allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, the suspect was taken into custody following a report of alleged incest and sexual exploitation. The complaint was lodged on January 4 by a man identified as Adewale from Ilara-Mokin, who accused Joshua of engaging in unlawful sexual activities with his niece.
According to Jimoh, the matter came to light after inquiries were conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the victim’s pregnancy.

“Upon receiving this disturbing report, the case was immediately transferred to the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) unit of the command for a discreet and thorough investigation,” Jimoh said. “The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.”
The spokesperson reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of women and children, stressing that offenders involved in sexual and gender-based violence would be made to face the full weight of the law.
Jimoh noted that the arrest aligns with the reform-driven policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at strengthening gender-sensitive policing nationwide. He added that the Ondo State Command remains dedicated to translating this vision into concrete actions that enhance public trust and community safety.

He also commended members of the public for promptly reporting the case and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to aid swift police intervention.
