During this remarkable year, the administration of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has recorded significant milestones at the Shehu Sule College of Nursing Sciences, reinforcing the government’s commitment to quality healthcare education and sustainable human capital development in Yobe State.
Infrastructure Development
To improve access, safety, and campus living standards, the Governor’s intervention delivered key infrastructure upgrades across the college.
A newly constructed 1.5-kilometre access road now provides smooth and reliable connectivity to the campus.
Student accommodation has been strengthened with the construction of a brand-new 200-bed capacity female hostel, alongside the comprehensive renovation of a major male hostel (M2).

In addition, the entire campus has been fully fenced and secured with the construction of a modern gate, enhancing safety and order.
Modern Learning and Academic Facilities
Recognising that quality education thrives in a well-equipped environment, the administration invested heavily in modern academic facilities.
These include the construction of a state-of-the-art e-Library, the establishment of a Digital Learning Centre, and the building of a dedicated Nursing Complex. A Public Health Department Complex was also constructed to support specialised training.
Furthermore, the ICT Centre and the Auditorium Hall were fully renovated, ensuring students and staff benefit from functional, technology-driven learning spaces.
“Academic Expansion”
In a major boost to academic capacity, nine new programmes were introduced, significantly expanding the scope and relevance of the institution.

These programmes include:
1. ND Nursing,
2. HND Nursing,
3. Community Nursing,
4. Community Midwifery,
5. Post-Basic Nursing,
6. Public Health Nursing,
7. Post-Basic Pediatrics,
8. Pot-Basic Nephrology Nursing, and
9. Post-Basic Midwifery.
This expansion positions the college to meet evolving healthcare needs while reducing reliance on external training institutions.
“Student Welfare”
Demonstrating people-centred leadership, the Governor approved a 100 percent increase in students’ allowances.
This decisive step eased financial pressure on students and reaffirmed the administration’s belief that welfare support is essential for academic excellence.
“Impact on Yobe State”
Today, Shehu Sule College of Nursing Sciences stands as a pillar of healthcare manpower development in Yobe State.
